Quick Update
It has been awhile since our last update, so here is just a quick update. We just returned from a night at Cold Stone Creamery in order to reward Olivia for keeping her pants dry each time she used the potty. She has a chart where she gets a sticker for it, and she filled up the chart today (25 spaces). You would think she would catch on to how simple of a reward system this is and pee all the time, but the connection hasn't been made yet. If she is encouraged to go, she usually says no.
As for Katelee, she was seen by an Early Developmental Intervention Services professional today. She is doing well. Her overall score put her at the 8 month old level. I think the professional was most impressed when Katelee started pounding out Chopsticks on the piano!

All Grins

Good Visit
Well, it has been a while since the last post. Mark has been gone for a couple of weeks, visiting Missouri and Texas. He was able to make his Mom's birthday wish come true by making it up to MO for her birthday. He was able to enjoy a good dinner with the Mitchells, eat lots of food at his Mom's house, and watch a Branson show (Noah, the musical).

After a few days in Branson, Mark headed to San Antonio for some training. The best part was hooking up with some old friends. Then, it was back on the plane for the trip to Guam. Now, it's time to conquer the jet lag!

Memorial Day Weekend
Happy Memorial Day!
We were able to enjoy a 4 day weekend and celebrate Memorial Day. Of course, I think it is just law now that one of us must be sick at all time though. Whose turn is it now? Courtney. Strep throat. She has had it since Wednesday. So, Mark has been playing a little extra Daddy-time.
That meant time on Friday to enjoy a celebration on base with girls in tow. We enjoyed a Carabou ride, jumpy castle, and graham cracker decorating. We even won a prize -- a Nintendo game system. The next morning, Mark & Olivia woke up early (5:00 a.m.) and headed to the University of Guam for a Relay for Life walk (event for The Cancer Society). Then, we had a birthday party at the pool later that afternoon. Finally, Sunday was a relaxing day, letting Courtney recuperate some more. Of course, it wasn't quite how we planned our 6th year anniversary!
How did we celebrate? Since the traditional gift for the 6th year is Iron, Courtney offered to take me to Iron Man (the movie). We didn't go though. After the girls were sleeping, we made ourselves comfy on the couch and enjoyed a blast from the past! We watched our wedding video. It was quite good to look back. We've come a long way baby! There were many funny parts we had never seen. Who knew 6 years later we would have 2 beautiful girls and be living in the middle of the Pacific ocean!?! Here is to another year.

A Few Good Pics
FYI: Katelee had her 6 month Well-Baby appointment last week. She now weighs 14 lbs, 4 oz. That puts her about the 25th percentile (unadjusted age).

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
Courtney was treated to a Mother's Day Weekend at the Guam Holiday Resort & Spa. We headed down to Tumon Bay on Friday evening, just in time to take a quick walk on the beach, bathe the girls, and get them to sleep around 8:00. Then, we sat on the balcony and watched the traffic and waves.
The next morning, Olivia woke up nice and early. Mark snuck out for breakfast to McDonald's and brought it back. The morning was even complete with an earthquake. According to the USGS, the Quake was about 125 miles from Guam and measured a 6.7 (click here for details). Courtney showed her Mother's Day spirit by running over to Katelee, who was on the bed, and covering her with her body. It was a good shake for quite a while, especially from the 7th floor of the hotel! Then, Mark & Olivia hit the pool for about an hour. Later, we all went to the beach before lunch at the hotel.

Later that day, we had a going away for a colleague, so we drove to Tarague Beach and played and ate. We made it back to the hotel in time for Courtney to enjoy a Bali massage. Then, Sunday morning, we all went to the pool and played for a little while. Brunch was served at the hotel and was quite nice (shrimp, chicken, crab, roasted pig, fish, desserts, breads, champagne, etc.).
Of course, we are thankful to be sleeping in our own bed tonight though!

Daughter Update
Olivia enjoys a fun day outside in her pool with the hose.
Katelee has moved to her own bed at night and decided tummy sleeping is best. She also has a strange desire to cover her face with something. We think she has started teething!
Finding Nemo Finds Our Bathroom
Stickers. Stickers are the way to decorate!!! No painting! No re-painting when time to move. Easy on. Easy off. Tons of choices and colors. We have now done Olivia's room (ladybugs and butterflies), Katelee's room (Gerber daisies), and the bathroom (Finding Nemo).
The only problem with the Finding Nemo stickers in the bathroom is I feel like I am underwater and have to hold my breath!
What's For Dinner?
When you live on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, your source of inspiration becomes a bit narrow! Olivia seemed to enjoy the Octopus hotdogs on seaweed (lettuce) with goldfish crackers.

Goodbye
It's been awhile since the last post. Mark caught the Guam bug (again) and was down about a week. He's on the upswing now, but Katelee seems to have it now. Olivia has had something for a while, but it doesn't seem to be the same thing Mark had. We'll see what Katelee's turns into. She is also teething. So, joy, joy, joy! Amazingly, she's still a happy baby!
Sadly, we said goodbye to another neighborhood family recently. As a final goodbye, Olivia, Katelee, and Courtney went to the PIC (a local hotel/water park) and enjoyed the day. Olivia was a fish, taking her first plunges underwater with her eyes open. She may have spent more time under the water than above it.

Poon Party
Mark and Courtney slipped out for an afternoon movie while Olivia stayed with a babysitter. Then, when we returned, we headed to a party. This was a 4 year old birthday party for 2 of the neighborhood kids at the Poon's house. The Poons know how to party! With a Western theme, the party was a blast, complete with horse, pin the tail on the donkey, boot mugs, a pinata, and cowboy boots cake. Needless to say, Olivia had fun.

Critters!
2:00 a.m. -- The night was dark and silent, except for the whir of the fan on the dresser. As Mark slept, a silent killer crept up his neck. It felt like a hermit crab coming to attack and claim its prize. As Mark went to slap it off his neck, he realized it was actually Olivia's hand feeling for him in the darkness. "There is a critter in my bed," she said.
Mark picked her up and took her back to her bedroom. He placed her back in her bed. She seemed scared and repeated that critters were in her bed. We turned on the light and searched the bed for critters. None. Mom came in about that time, and Mark went back to sleep. She got Olivia back to sleep by climbing into bed with her and singing to her.
2:37 a.m. -- The night was dark and silent, except for a little girl whispering in Mark's ear. "Dad, there are critters in my bed. He walked her back down the hallway, but they stopped in Katelee's room. The room still has the double bed in it from the grandparents' visit. He tucked her in there, left the light on, and went back to sleep.
2:38 a.m. -- Mark heard a noise in the hallway, so he got back up and checked it out. Olivia had shut the door to Katelee's room so no critters could get into the room. And, the rest of the night was quiet. Olivia actually slept until 7:30 (an hour and a half past normal).
Was it a dream? Was it real? Only Olivia really knows.

Vacation Day 12
Today it was back to the beach for a little snorkeling-even for Grandma! Grandpa saw two octopi swimming just feet below him, and then he and Courtney were stalked by a lone barracuda-lucky for us he was alone! Katelee enjoyed a nap in the shade and Olivia found a coconut crab! It was a good last hoorah. Tomorrow we will sadly put them on an airplane to go home. Here are a few pics in review. Oh, yeah. Mark worked.
Vacation Day 11
Today we took a break from the sun, seeing as how Katelee got her first sunburn yesterday. It was bound to happen! Grandma and Courtney had a fun day of shopping while Grandpa had his quality time with the girls. For dinner, we went to Firefly. It turned out to be a rather elegant establishment-especially for Guam! The food and company was fabulous. Then we ducked into Chamorro Village so Grandma could pick up a couple more souvenires. These pics are to prove that we did get some with Mark in the picture.

Vacation Day 10
Mark worked.
Meanwhile, Courtney, Wade, & Jessica went diving again. They hit up "Blue and White" and "The American Tanker." Jessica made up for Mark's absence in the photo department by taking 122 pictures!
Grandma played with the girls in the park.
Then, we enjoyed a good March Madness Championship game between KU and Memphis.
Tomorrow's plan? Not sure yet!

Vacation Day 9 (edited version)
Mark had to work today, but the others had a good time heading downtown to catch a trolley. They started at one mall and went to another. At the second mall, they stopped for lunch and ice cream. They did a little shopping before returning.
After Olivia's nap, they tried out Olivia's new cooking set -- complete with baking pan and cookie cutouts. Mark made it home a bit after 5, and everyone headed to the Jamaican Grill for Jerk Chicken and Ribs.
Tomorrow: another boat dive for Courtney and Wade. Grandma will play on the beach with the girls. Mark will be working with no bitterness.
